NYFW: Skingraft Review

Hey darlings,

I hope you all had a marvelous weekend!

March is finally here and it’s a brand new month to start over and complete what we didn’t finish last month.  Yes, time is flying and we’re all getting busier, but it’s important that we stay true to the course and push it out.  Well, for starters, I’m going to give you this review of Skingraft’s Fall/Winter ’15 Collection as promised from New York Fashion Week (oh, it’s never too late for a fashion review my dears!!).  Prior to this February, Skingraft was far off my radar into the land of unknown: I had no clue that this designer brand even existed.  An unfortunate cause for me.  But, thanks to the heavens above, I have uncovered and am now officially sold to this masterful work of clothes.  Skingraft’s fall/winter collection serves not just killer looks, but screams “ATTITUDE”.  The provoking color palette of black and cream with a small hint of delicate stripes and patterns, I was amazed at how they captured my attention with primarily two colors and KEPT me wanting more.  Yes, it’s true that black is the new black.  But, loose-knit leather and tall brim hats are the new essentials for the cool kids.  The funky twists on the men’s leather trench coat had the audience gagging for more!  Even the turtlenecks for men, placed under leather bomber jackets brought the cool to being cool.  Skingraft’s brilliant touch of their striped over-sized capes for both the men and women coupled with booties and sneakers electrified the essence of street style.  You can also plan to be warm in their drapey motorcycle pants, redefining the baggy pants syndrome, yet with comfortability. Honestly, if you want to be seen and cool, then my friends you’ve found your new designer brand. And you can thank me later.

See below for pictures from the runway as well as a short video clip from my Instagram (@beautifulijerri, follow me if you aren’t already :)) account giving you a peek from the finale! Sorry some of the pics are slightly blurry – the models were moving so fast!

AMOL Spotlight: Little Black Girls at New York Fashion Week

IMG_0649
By far, this photo is my FAVORITE photo from New York FashionWeek! I love it because these little girls experienced one of the most coveted places to be and at seven years old, a whole new world was opened unto them. It’s also phenomenal because there was a time where attending NYFW shows was just a dream for black people and sharing this moment with these beautiful little black girls was an awesome feeling! After the show, we (along with my friend Hannah whose daughter is on the left) went backstage for the girls to hang out with the models, get makeup done, and take lots of pictures. In fact, the photographers took more pics of them than me!! Lol!!! They stole the show!! I love when little black girls are exposed to the limitless possibilities of this world and dare to dream bigger! Be inspired;)

Day 6 NYFW: Recap

Hi darlings!

I hope everyone is staying warm in this awful cold weather! Now, that New York Fashion Week is over, I want to give you a recap on Day 6 which was amazing (and I think you will like some of the pics 😉 ). The other day I attended SkinGraft F/W ’15 Presentation – it was SO DOPE! Honestly, only cool kids can wear this collection and you’re cool so I know you’ll LOVE it! I had an amazing time; there were several celebrities in attendance such as rapper Fabolous and Miss J from America’s Next Top Model. But see below for pics and enjoy! I’ll be posting my review on Skingraft’s collection shortly, so stay tuned (maybe some video action?)!

Day 8 NYFW: Papergirl

Hi darlings,

Today is the last day of New York Fashion Week which I’m super sad about and thanking God for at the same time because Lord knows I’m drained. Lol! However, I challenged myself in my attire today, tried something totally outside of my comfort zone. My look was inspired by my Papa as the hat belonged to him. I really didn’t know how I was going to put it together creatively and struggled to bring it to life this morning! But, I found my confidence in this look and decided to rock it out. Hopefully, you’re inspired 😉
